The dissertation presents the first critical edition of the Neo-Latin poetry collection Lucina (1474) by the Pavese humanist Aurelius Laurentius Albrisius, transmitted in three books comprising over 2,000 verses in a lavishly illuminated Madrid codex dedicated to the Sforza chancellor Cicco Simonetta. The edition appears in two complementary forms: as a printed edition with an interpretative commentary, and as a digital edition that goes beyond the print version, making the collection accessible through additional content and tools for scholarly access – such as the diplomatic text, a link to the manuscript digitisation, indices, full-text search, and the visualisation of the network of addressees and motifs. An introduction situates the author, the work and its milieu within the Milanese Quattrocento. At the centre of the study is the generic classification of a collection that combines a love-elegiac Lucina cycle as its guiding thread with heterogeneous occasional poetry – verse epistle, panegyric, epigram, heroid, lament for the dead – interweaving ancient models (Ovid, Catullus, Martial, Horace) with Petrarchan models, in particular the Epistulae metricae. The Lucina thus proves to be both a literarily transfigured autobiography and, at the same time, a poetic portfolio soliciting patronage – a testimony to court culture and the learned network surrounding the Sforza.
